  • A completely free operating system (Linux). Has derivations of Kubuntu and Edubuntu (specifically for education). Virtually virus-free and self-updating.
  • Ubuntu One
    • A free 2gig cloud that is awesome in Linux and coming soon for Windows (more info on the page).

Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)
  • One of the best, most comprehensive library sites. Can help you with almost all writing needs.

Open Office
  • Free office suite. Convertible, oft-updated, and powerful.

Celtx
  • Incredibly powerful writing program. Formats screenplays, stage plays, comic books, storyboards, and more. This is the type of program that you can't believe you get for free.

The GIMP
  • A free program in which you can take a PHOTO of a SHOP and make it beautiful. Then you have a free PHOTO of a SHOP that you can print and hang in your house.

The Internet Archive
  • An amazing site. Tons of free images, movies, and music. Check out the live music archive for one-of-a-kind recordings.

Google Chrome or Firefox
  • Chances are you're probably already using one of them.

Audacity
  • Another program you should have to pay for. Sound recording and mixing for novices and experts alike.

BannerFans
  • Where you can make free banners for your site free and easily. See "Chanese Central" in the upper left: Bannerfans.

Camstudio
  • Totally free video editor (if Moviemaker isn't your thing)

Glogster
  • It's not a blog; it's not a movie; it's something unique. An online "poster" that has an embed option in wikispaces.

Prezi
  • Free presentation program (web based). Because Powerpoint is for grannies.
